JGM was hired by The SSOE Group as the turnkey contractor for this food client’s Freezer Replacement Project. SSOE is an international engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) firm that had previously worked with JGM to complete another project for this client.

Because the plant would remain active for the entire duration of the construction process with just a partial shutdown for all plant utility tie-ins, JGM needed to develop and maintain an aggressive schedule to complete the work by the desired deadline. JGM provided the concrete, masonry, plumbing, mechanical piping, HVAC and all finishes for this project.

They were also responsible for the fabrication and erection of the structural steel, and the installation of all metal decking to support the new freezer replacement.

The mechanical installation, structural and rigging package that JGM provided for this project also included the demolition of the existing cooling tower and humidifier, and the setting of a new air-handling unit (AHU). This installation required that new cooling towers be set 200-feet inside the building on the roof.

Each of these units weighed 18,000 pounds and required extensive planning and safety measures to ensure a successful, accident-free installation. JGM put together a comprehensive rigging plan that required the use of a 300-ton crane to complete the work.

The JGM team worked around the clock, through Father’s Day weekend, to set the structural steel and cooling towers while the plant was shut down for just two days.
