One JGM team member who has demonstrated significant growth and goes above and beyond for our team and clients is our Superintendent, Bobby Ray Gray. Bobby has been a part of the JGM team for three years and in that time has helped us oversee projects, manage quality control, and foster customer relationships in the field. Additionally, he ensures all work performed exceeds Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and state safety regulations.

Which member of JGM’s leadership team has contributed to your growth as a superintendent?
Bobby Ray Gray: I cannot give credit to just one team member, but to start I will talk about Brian Sell. When I first started in my position at JGM, I faced a lot of growing pains that I had never experienced before. Brian stepped up to help make the obstacles easier for me to overcome as well as help keep my emotions in check. I used to get worked up easily when things did not go the way I had planned in my head, but Brian taught me how to adapt to the situation and proceed forward.
Secondly, Dominic Bonura played a key role in my growth. Dominic is more of the “tell it like it is” kind of guy and his direct form of communication taught me some serious lessons that I might not have ever learned about my position and role at JGM. I cannot thank them enough for teaching me these valuable lessons!
What is your favorite part about working at JGM?
Bobby Ray Gray: What I love most about working at JGM is the team’s attitude of “LET’S figure this out” and not “YOU figure this out.” Working out in the field can be challenging, so knowing I always have the team’s support is amazing. For example, there have been instances where an unforeseen circumstance occurs and I need a specific piece of equipment, material, etc. as soon as possible at the jobsite. Every time our team has pulled together with support from Mike Crittenden, to make sure I had what I needed to finish the job. Our team can provide solutions to unique challenges I may face in the field in no time, which really puts a stamp on “When You Need It Yesterday.” That kind of support does not go unnoticed, and I am very grateful for that.
What piece of advice would you give to someone pursuing a career in steel fabrication?
Bobby Ray Gray: Do it. Trade school is so important and extremely underutilized. Take every piece of training offered. There will always be a need for fabricators and constructors. Be a leader. Stand out and break away. You will be extremely successful, and you can thank me later!
Tell us about your hobbies outside of work.
Bobby Ray Gray: Whenever I have free time, I enjoy playing golf. Even though I am terrible, I like getting outside and enjoying good weather. If I get a long weekend, I am either traveling to Ole Miss football games, or participating in extreme mountain biking.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Bobby Ray Gray: If it is a style of food, I am going Mexican. You cannot go wrong there. If it is one specific food, it would have to be steak.
What are three words your family and friends would use to describe you?
Bobby Ray Gray: They would describe me as loyal, driven, and stunning!
