When Covanta Energy, a long-time client, needed to install a new lime slaker and silo at their York, Pennsylvania facility, JGM was the team they trusted to support the project. The lime slaker, which converts quicklime/pebble lime into a calcium hydroxide slurry, is an important part of Covanta Energy’s operations, so it was critical our team completed the project in a timely manner with minimal disruptions.

Our first responsibility was to offload and lift the new lime silo onto its foundation. Once positioned and secured, we were tasked with installing a bin vent filter; exhaust duct stubs; bird screens; an exterior ladder and stair well; as well as a landing on the outside of the silo. Additionally, we had to install and ensure the mechanical function of grit screw conveyors, discharge chutes, and supports. Once all this work was completed, our team connected the slurry tank agitator shaft and bolt on the inside of the tank as well as installed a slurry tank drain on the exterior of the silo.

For the pump room, JGM managed offloading and lifting the new pump room container onto a new foundation. We completed all mechanical installation and process piping support in this space.

The JGM team successfully completed this equipment setting and piping installation project on time, within budget, and with no recordable injuries, leaving our loyal client highly satisfied with our work.
