JGM was contracted by Banker steel to support their fabrication efforts on the heavy weldments required for the new 66 Hudson Spiral building located in downtown Manhattan. Over the past 5 years, JGM has supported the largest fabricators in North America with their complex and heavy fabrication needs for the NYC market. A single column can require over 2,000 man hours to fabricate & weld!
JGM was a natural choice for Banker since we are AISC Certified with a Fracture Critical Endorsement as well as an Approved Fabricator by NYC Department of Buildings. This eliminates the requirement of full-time 3rd party inspection, cutting significant cost for the owner. These fabricated box columns were made of 4” thick plate and required CJP welds at each corner. Each column had very complex geometry and had to be spot-on. JGM fabricated over 20 columns in total, each weighing over 90,000 lbs.
