At JGM, we believe when building the impossible, safety must be the number one priority. From requiring all supervisors to obtain their OSHA 30 certification, to holding them responsible for completing a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) on any new task, our team is committed to uncompromising safety.
We recognize the importance of being trained and able to render first aid immediately to a co-worker, site visitor, or subcontractor in the event of an accident, which is why we proudly developed the First Aid Support Team (F.A.S.T.). Lead by Tanner Crum and Kyle Wick, both JGM employees and volunteer firefighters, this safety committee has professionally trained more than 12 team members to respond immediately to any injury or accident that may happen on JGM’s premises. Through this training, we are now equipped to provide basic first aid, CPR, and AED care prior to E.M.S. arrival.
Since launch, this safety program has been a success, and we are already looking for ways to enhance F.A.S.T., which includes building out a designated room that will be utilized by F.A.S.T. team members in the event of an incident. This room will be stocked with first aid items, an AED, and seating to keep an employee comfortable while waiting for E.M.S. to arrive. Additionally, we plan to certify more employees in first aid, CPR, and AED care to grow the program.
“I am proud of our team members who have decided to join the First Aid Support Team (F.A.S.T.) and take the steps needed to prepare for an emergency. Not only can a quick response save lives, but it can also reduce recovery time, leading to less time lost from injuries,” said Rob Policastro, health and safety manager at JGM. “I am excited to see how this program grows and enhances our commitment to safety.”
