Canam was in charge of constructing the most complex structural steel framing and retractable roof system that’s ever been built for the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and they needed support. They contacted JGM in October of 2015 for the fabrication of over 3,000 tons of complex nodes, girders, box trusses and vertical columns for the construction.
Every piece of material received sophisticated paint, sandblasting and a 3-part epoxy system, and all work was scanned utilizing state-of-the-art 3D scanning technology to ensure 100% accuracy of the pieces.
In addition to fabricating these materials, JGM also coordinated all trucking and logistics between our facility and the painting contractor in New Jersey. Because of the size of the materials, several oversized loads were needed, which required the use of escort vehicles and proper permitting. In total, this project consisted of just over 65,000 man hours to complete.
