W.L. Gore was expanding their facility in Elkton, Md. and called on JGM to provide a turnkey package for their new world-class manufacturing facility. This project involved the fabrication and erection of girder trusses in excess of 100 feet.
These girder trusses not only served as a clear span roof, but also were supporting a diamond plate mezzanine structure for the plant. This enabled the space below to be column-free. JGM used a 110-ton hydraulic crane to set the trusses. There were a total of ten trusses that were delivered by three trailers.
These trailers required over-length permitting. We had to accept delivery by 7 a.m. and set the trusses by 10 a.m. to avoid any interruptions to employee parking.
