W&W Steel needed help with the construction of a 68-story building located on a compact site in New York City’s Hudson Yards. This project utilized 110,000 tons of steel from across the world and, with materials coming from both Italy and Mexico, W&W was experiencing some shipping damages. They needed a partner that could remain on-call throughout the project, addressing any fabrication issues that may arise and repairing any shipping damages as needed.

JGM was hired to provide the sophisticated welding, complex fabrication and heavy hauling services needed within a moment’s notice. The transportation team handled the pickup of large, heavy columns and girders weighing up to 100,000 pounds and their delivery to the staging yard in North Jersey, ensuring all materials were delivered within aggressive timelines to maintain the fast track erection schedule.

As the erection process continued, JGM was also contracted to assist in the building modifications as they were requested by tenants. JGM fabricated and delivered small steel packages ranging in size from 2 to 50 tons of steel to the construction site within one to three weeks time, allowing the erection to continue on schedule. All steel pieces received sandblasting and sophisticated coatings, while the fabrication process was overseen by a third party inspector.
