Our team was contracted by one of the largest industrial real estate developers in the country to reinforce an entire roof structure in a 750,000 square foot warehouse to meet new load requirements. We worked diligently to avoid disruptions to the tenant’s 24/7/365 operations and 400+ employees. In total, over 2,300 bar joists were reinforced and over 200 girders were shored, jacked, and reinforced.
To bring this project to life, we had to erect and install over 60,000 square feet of hanging scaffolding, which was moved 11 times. To carry over 900 tons of steel from an outside laydown area up onto the scaffold floor, we had to create a safe and efficient logistics process. A team of welders, fitters, laborers, operators, and safety professionals, including top and bottom fire watch personnel, were mobilized. Our team applied over 187,000 lineal feet of weld, eight custom-engineered girder jacking systems, and put in over 200,000-man hours of craft labor. Over 530 safety inspections were completed resulting in zero lost time incidents and zero interruptions to operations going on below.
