2021 has been an incredible year for the JGM family. Not only have we secured new clients, conquered challenging projects, and expanded our skillsets, but we also achieved a record-breaking experience modification rate (EMR). At JGM, uncompromising safety is a core value that influences how we approach every project and work zone. Our commitment to safety paid off this year as our EMR dropped to 0.662, the lowest in company history!
We were able to achieve this milestone because of our dedicated team and many safety initiatives. To start, our Health and Safety Manager, Rob Policastro, played a primary role in decreasing our EMR by deploying SafetySkills, an online learning management system. This program offers an array of safety training topics, which educates our workforce, so they are prepared to meet the industry’s varying environments. Additionally, all JGM team members (including leadership and administrative staff) participate in OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 training. Continuous workforce training is critical to uncompromising safety!
New to JGM this past year was the First Aid Support Team (F.A.S.T.), launched by Kyle Wick and Tanner Crum. This initiative was developed to improve our immediate response to any medical issues that may arise at the plant or in the field. F.A.S.T. is a unique offering that not only improves safety, but also offers a way for our employees to get involved.
At JGM, safety never stops. Our Field Operations Manager, Dominic Bonura, has also helped enhance our safety efforts by spreading words of wisdom around our company that prove to be true in every aspect of business. He preaches “it takes a village to do anything great,” and this resonates especially within our safety program. Company Founder and CEO, Joe Messner, Jr. said, “our safety culture was not built overnight, and it certainly was not built by one person. I want to thank our entire team for all your efforts to ensure we all go home to our families safely. Let’s keep kicking ass!”
