Exelon had just finished building a new 200-megawatt simple-cycle, dual-fuel electric generation facility in Medway, Massachusetts. As they began to  take over the operations and maintenance of the new facility, it was apparent they needed to add additional access and maintenance platforms that provided a safer and more efficient way to operate and maintain the facility. JGM was Exelon’s first call for this design build project.

The challenge was that operations had already placed temporary scaffold platforms throughout many of these areas and there were miles upon miles of pipe and conduit that we were going to have to contend with. With the use of Trimble scanning, SketchUp and Tekla BIM technology, we designed, fabricated, and installed over 300 tons of galvanized platforms, railings, stairs and ladders all while the plant continued to operate. Many of the platforms had to be designed in such a way that we eliminated much of the hot work to avoid plant outages. This project was completed in 90 days with zero lost time incidents.
