Covanta energy, North America’s Largest Waste to Energy Company, was replacing their (2) 50-ton overhead bridge cranes and needed to make significant upgrades to their existing electrical equipment infrastructure. These cranes were critical to their operations as they are used to keep the 3 boilers fed with disposable waste 24/7.
JGM was awarded the turnkey construction contract to construct the new roof openings for the crane installation & build 2 new climate controlled electrical equipment enclosure rooms. All of this work needed to take place during normal plant operations. JGM was responsible for the fabrication & installation of the structural steel, 10,000 SF of new roofing, electrical equipment rigging, metal studs & drywall, fireproofing, & HVAC system. This project required just over 6,000 manhours in the field. We finished this on time and with zero lost time accidents.
