JGM’s 20th year in business has been an amazing year! We accomplished so much in just 12 months, while continuing to face challenges related to COVID-19, two historic floods, supply chain issues, and labor shortages. Though these seem like major headwinds, I see tremendous opportunity for JGM in the coming years as major investments are being made in national manufacturing, infrastructure, and renewable energy. It is an exciting time for U.S. based construction and manufacturing–the future is bright!
As 2021 comes to a close, it is always great to reflect on our team’s major accomplishments. First and foremost, we worked over 250,000 man hours and our experience modification rate (EMR) was reduced to 0.662, the lowest in company history – an amazing accomplishment! Our entire company trained over 5,000 hours to help improve both our safety and technical skills. Additionally, JGM’s steel erection group received its AISC Erector Certification, allowing us to pursue more complex projects for our industrial clients. This year, we also launched our Apprenticeship Training Program, so we can continue to grow a safe and sustainable workforce. Last, but certainly not least, this holiday season, our team broke a company record by collecting and donating over 330 toys to the Marines Toys for Tots Foundation. These are just a few of the highlights!
I want to thank all our employees, families, clients, vendors, and partners for your hard work and continued support. I wish you and your families a happy holiday and look forward to a safe and exciting 2022!

JGM BEHIND THE SCENES
A Surprise Celebration
It is not an easy task to keep our Founder and CEO, Joe Messner, Jr., out of the know, but our Contract and Administration Manager, Kim Gunther, pulled it off! Every year, Kim plans our holiday party by coordinating the food, venue, toy drive, and raffle gifts. This year, she made the event extra special by secretly inviting family, friends, and supporters to the holiday party to surprise Joe Messner, Jr. with a 20th anniversary celebration. In 2001, at the age of 19, Joe started JGM with only a pickup truck and welding trailer. Many individuals helped and supported him along the way, so it was amazing to get everyone together again to celebrate 20 years of business. He was completely blown away!
One of the best parts of the party was the gift raffle. For the past seven years, JGM supported the Marines Toys for Tots Program. This year, to collect as many toys as possible for the cause, we gave away a free raffle ticket to any team member who donated a toy. Plus, our amazing employees, family, and friends who were entered into the raffle walked away with prizes such as an Xbox, 70” TV, snowblowers, Milwaukee battery-powered tool sets, electric scooters, concert tickets, and even an all-expense paid trip to Nashville. The party was a true success all around and we especially thank Kim for all her hard work!

At JGM, we are committed to providing our team members with ongoing training and career advancement opportunities. Recently, our estimating team completed ABC Eastern PA’s eight-week, Fundamentals of Construction Estimating course where they improved their estimating skill sets in excavation, concrete masonry, carpentry, and finishes. Throughout this course, JGM team members had the opportunity to participate in hands-on, detailed modules to learn how to estimate the general conditions of construction projects, site work, and other trade disciplines. Additionally, activities associated with estimating metals, wood, doors, and windows were offered.
We are proud of Brad Klick, JP Messner, Joe Pardo, Erik Venuti, and Kyle Wick for their hard work and completion of this course.
