One JGM team member who has done a spectacular job at leading our onsite field crews is Josh Day. Josh has served as an onsite field superintendent at JGM for over six years. To get to know him better, explore his roles and responsibilities, and find out what he enjoys most about working at JGM, we interviewed Josh. What are your daily responsibilities at JGM?
Josh: First and foremost, I ensure a safe work environment for our onsite field crews. I also plan and direct execution of daily production goals and tasks. Plus, I oversee onsite communications and building relationships with customers.
What is your favorite part about working at JGM?
Josh: My favorite part about working at JGM is also the most challenging, which is the traveling. While it is tough at times to be away from home for extended periods of time, it is nice to see different areas I likely never would have visited.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Josh: JGM takes on a myriad of challenging projects that even I stand back at the beginning and think “this is not possible, just no way.” But then, as the clock ticks down and the projects wrap up, the feeling of “Yeah, I just did that” is rewarding. I do not think you get that sense of satisfaction in too many places.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone pursuing a career in your field?
Josh: Like everything in life, there are good days and bad. Do your best to look at the good days as a rewarding experience and use the tougher days as a learning and growing experience. This career path isn’t always easy, but it is almost always worth it.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Josh: I love attending live music concerts and shows.
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Josh: Gathering at my sisters and having a nice meal with family.
